Thinking too much about something in the future?

Do you ever struggle with thinking too much about something in the future? Like you make plans with friends two weeks from now and you spend your days coming up with conversations to have to avoid silence? You're not alone.

I understand how it feels to be stressed out and anxious prior to seeing friends after a long period of time. No one should have to.

Here's what you can do:

  1. When you notice that voice in your head begins talking (coming up with questions and responses), take a deep breath and pause. Acknowledging and becoming aware is the first step.

  2. Ask yourself "Is this helpful?" (Most of the time, it's not. Then remind yourself you're having a one sided convo... with yourself 🙃)

  3. Most of my future thinking happens while I'm getting dressed or bored, so get up and do something fun! Listen to music, a funny tv show, read a book, go for a walk, color. This will help bring you back to the present moment.

I hope these tips help! Let me know how it goes.

xo,

Amanda
